We were trying to explore Doowili falls since few years. Our previous attempts from Walpolamulla(due to poor preparation and injury), Babarella (misleading Guide called Mr. Ranjith) failed due to various reasons. But we agreed among ourselves to try for one last time.
We started form Ragama about 4.00 in the morning. The crew was 4 and used car as our mode of transportation..

The drive to Bakamuna was quite effortless. Road condition was superb. From Bakamuna to Pallegama-Laggala road was terrible due to Lorries transporting sand from Mahiyanganaya. Still it can be managed by a car. From Pallegama to Ranamure road was quite good with some parts laid with concrete. We reached Pallegama around10.30inthe morning and had breakfast.

We met our guide Kumara at Pallegama and traveled to Ranamure by three-wheeler. We started our hike around 11am. First part of the route is clear. After hour of steady walking we reached the junction where if you want to directly hike to doowili falls you have to turn to right. As we planned to reach KMP wadiya at Kalupahana on day one we took the straight route.

At some places the path becomes non existence as less villagers travel to kalupahana because most of Ensal wadi have been destroyed by Department of Forest and they face heavy penalties if they get caught at Ensal cultivating areas.

On the way to Kalupahana we reached the pathana from where the area of kalupana demarcated. Below are some snaps from the pathana.

Next day morning we woke up with hope of reaching Doowili falls. After having breakfast we left the KMP wadiya around 9am and reached the bottom of the falls around 11am after touch decent. Following more climbing we reached the much coveted caves of the waterfalls.

On the way to Ranamure we crossed two Pathana, first one was larger than the second one. From the first pathana path became clear. Until then we had to solely depend on our guide’s instincts. Most of the way we had to decent.

Around 5.30pm we reached Ranamure and spent the night at our guide’s home.

Next day morning we reached Ragama via the same route.
